About the artist

Hello! I am Kwangsook Schaefermeyer, a self taught artist living in a small Alaska town with my husband, our five awesome kids, and our dog, Alyeska.
As a young mother and a stranger in town, painting was the best formula to keep motivated and encouraged. I started painting when my two oldest kids were toddlers. I used to paint in my kitchen, closet, baby room, living room, and garage.
Now,
I have a little studio that I don’t have to share,
but my kids are always welcome.
I usually create my art late at night when everyone is asleep, so I don’t need to worry about changing diapers, feeding, and cleaning messes after snacks and  play-time. I can just focus on painting until little birds are chirping in the trees.
They are like my morning alarm.
I love to play with bright and vibrant colors that define the meanings of life, love, relationships, cares, places and limited or unlimited time. I love to capture the sunlight with water that can shine your heart, the enjoyments of life with lots of craziness, and the beauty of the nature and wildlife we are surrounded by.

I also love to experiment with a variety of mediums and different techniques. I paint realism with tiny brushes or do finger paintings with thick paint on my fingers,
as you see here on my website.
Hope you enjoy my artworks and fill every single day with lots of joy, laughter, health, and happiness. Thank you for your love and support.
You are the best!
With love,
Kwangsook Schaefermeyer

Thanks for visiting us. Let it shine!
